Marco Mendoza (San Diego, 13 agosto 1956) è un bassista statunitense.

Ha trascorso la sua esperienza formativa vivendo a Tijuana, Messico, presso la nonna. Inizio’ giovanissimo a suonare la chitarra, passo’ poi a suonare il basso quando fu invitato ad unirsi ad una band locale che cercava appunto il bassista.
Professionalmente inizia la carriera nella band di John Sykes, i Blue Murder, dal 1991 sino al 1993. Questo periodo incidera’ poi la sua vita professionale poiché nel tempo spesso i suoi lavori resteranno intrecciati a quelli del suo amico John.
Mendoza si unisce nel 1996 ai Thin Lizzy, gruppo che dopo la morte di Phil Lynott veniva portato avanti da John Sykes, per poi lasciarli nel 2000.
Nel 2000 viene ingaggiato da David Coverdale, dapprima per suonare nel suo album solista, poi per unirsi ai Whitesnake, band nella quale aveva precedentemente suonato il suo amico John Sykes.
Dal 2001 al 2003 ha partecipato alle tournee di Ted Nugent.
Contemporaneamente suona con la band Soul Sirkus e collabora con moltissimi altri musicisti dal background più disparato come ad esempio: Suzy K, Right Said Fred, Robert Williams, Roch Voisine, Rafael Aragon, Debby Yeager, Tin Drum e Tommy Shaw.
Nel 2004 ritorna nei Whitesnake, dove appare in tutte le tournee fino al 2007, comparendo anche nell’album e DVD del 2006 Live… In the Still of the Night. Durante questo periodo ha occasione di incontrare Tommy Aldridge, un batterista che lo affianchera’ spesso nei suoi lavori e partecipazioni.
Intanto contemporaneamente ha anche suonato in molti album di tributo come: Little Guitars: A Tribute to Van Halen (1999), Metallic Assault: A Tribute to Metallica (2000), Stone Cold Queen: A tribute (2002), poi in una All Star Lineup suonando alcuni pezzi dei Pink Floyd (2002) e in One Way Street: A Tribute to Aerosmith (2002).
Nel 2004, Marco suona con il tastierista Derek Sherinian nel suo solo album, Mythology.
È ritornato nei Thin Lizzy nel 2005 rimpiazzando Randy Gregg.
Nel 2006, Marco ha partecipato al tour di Ted Nugent nuovamente, dividendosi anche nello stesso periodo tra le date dei Thin Lizzy e Whitesnake.
Nel 2007, appare sull’album di debutto della cantante dei The Cranberries, Dolores O’Riordan: Are You Listening?.
Attualmente è il bassista dei riformati Thin Lizzy, dove suona ancora John Sykes; con il gruppo hard rock esegue una tournee europea e contemporaneamente presta i suoi servigi alla tournee mondiale della cantante Dolores O’Riordan.
Marco al momento vive a Los Angeles, e quando non è in tour con qualche gruppo o non lavora con John Sykes ai suoi progetti solisti, si dedica alla sua trio band Marco Mendoza, Joey Heredia, Renato Neto ogni martedì sera al La Ve Lee Jazz Club, Studio City, (LA). Con questi ha inciso recentemente un CD Live.
Il 6 luglio 2007 esce il suo primo album solista con la collaborazione di Richie Kotzen.
Nel 2008, Marco entra a far parte di una super rock band La Famiglia Superstar con Steve Saluto (chitarra), Atma Anur (batteria) e Terry Ilous (voce). La band si esibisce in tour e successivamente entra in studio per la registrazione di un album.

Marco Mendoza (born 3 May 1963) is an American musician. He spent his formative years living with his grandmother in Tijuana, Mexico. He started playing the guitar at an early age, adopting the bass when he was invited to join a band that needed a player.
Mendoza played in John Sykes’ band Blue Murder, from 1991 until 1993. Mendoza is the bassist for the reformed version of Thin Lizzy with whom he is touring Europe throughout 2011.[1] Mendoza joined the band in 1996 then left in 2000. From 2000 to 2003 he toured with Ted Nugent. Mendoza returned to Thin Lizzy in 2005 replacing Randy Gregg and left again in 2007. He then toured with ex-Dokken guitarist George Lynch in his band Lynch Mob. After John Sykes’ departure from Thin Lizzy 2009, Scott Gorham set to work on creating the greatest lineup of Thin Lizzy since Phil Lynott’s passing. Rejoining him are old band mates Brian Downey (the only founder of the band now playing) and Darren Wharton. New to the lineup are Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell and former The Almighty vocalist Ricky Warwick. After months of pre-production and rehearsals, the band issued a press release about their new lineup in May 2010. This version of Thin Lizzy started an extensive world tour in January 2011 and is scheduled to continue for the foreseeable future.

On July 6, 2007, Mendoza released his first solo album Live For Tomorrow, through Frontiers Records in Europe. The record was produced and co-written by Richie Kotzen and features guest performances by Steve Lukather, Ted Nugent, Doug Aldrich, Tommy Aldridge, Brian Tichy, Marco Renteria (Jaguares) and others.
